Screen Savers

While no longer necessary due to the advancement in monitor technology, screen savers were designed to protect earlier monitors from burn-in, which resulted from still images leaving permanent marks on the monitor's display. Screen savers feature moving images that activate whenever a computer is left alone for a specified amount of time.
