Frequently asked questions

What is abandonware?

Abandonware is software the rights holder no longer sells or supports. Titles are listed here for preservation, and any listing is removed on request from the rights holder.

Do I have to pay for these games?

Most titles in the catalogue are free to download. A small number are priced, and those are marked with a price on the game page.

Will these games run on a modern PC?

Many titles were written for DOS or early Windows and need an emulator such as DOSBox. The requirements listed on each game page tell you what the title originally expected.

How do I find a specific game?

Use the search box, or browse by category, developer, platform or year of release. Every route lists the number of titles it holds.

Can I submit a game?

Get in touch and tell us the title, the year and the developer. We will add it to the catalogue if we can verify it.
