Thief - The Dark Project

You play Garrett, discovered on the streets you are taken in and trained by the secretive organization of Keepers. However, you decide to use your talents for your own ends and return to the streets to earn your living as a thief. You must hide in shadows to avoid being seen - your level of visibility is indicated by the light gem at the bottom of the screen. Guards can also hear you, walk slowly and on softer surfaces to limit the noise you make - carpet is almost silent while metal produces a terrible amount of noise. You have at your disposal a wide range of equipment, lockpicks, blackjack, water/moss/noisemaker arrows, sword, mines etc... each with their own use, for example water arrows for dowsing torches and blackjack for knocking out unsuspecting guards. Extra equipment can be bought pre-mission as well as found later. The levels range from small to huge and missions will progress from your typical manor job to pay the rent, to becoming once more, unwillingly, allied with the Keepers plans and entangled with the plot.
