This means that while you are building a base or mining minerals, the opponent could be organizing an attack at the same time. This style of game relies more on quick thinking and swift reflexes in order to manage everything as efficiently as possible. The 3D polygonal graphics allow for details such as varied terrain (including noticeable height differences with peaks and valleys) that would be hard to achieve using 2D graphics. The majority of real-time strategy games released after 1998 will fall under this style.

This is the dramatic background to the Real-Time Strategy Game World War 3. With one of the 3 parties (USA, Russia or Iraq) you have to play the 2 campaigns. Each campaign has 5 missions. You can build all buildings like every other RTS. You can also spent resources in research (weapons or technologies). In World War 3 you have to choose between 15 units and 13 buildings Every party has a specific skill. The Americans can overtake buildings, the Russians have chemical weapons and the Iraqis are good in camouflage.
