Akalabeth was one of the first computer role-playing games and is the precursor to the Ultima Series. Once, the land of Akalabeth was peaceful and quiet. But then came Mondain, an evil and ambitious man who created dungeons and populated them with foul creatures. The noble warrior British was able to drive Mondain from Akalabeth, but the monsters he brought with him remain. As either a fighter or a mage, it is your job to explore Akalabeth, descend into the dungeons and vanquish the beasts dwelling within. On an overhead map of the land, one can find the dungeons, towns where one may buy supplies, weapons and armor, and a castle, where one will be given quests by Lord British. To fulfill such a quest, a certain type of creature must be destroyed in a dungeon. Inside the dungeons, the view switches to a first-person perspective. Fight, explore and find treasure on your way to complete a quest. Each successive quest will require you to destroy a stronger monster, which will reside on a deeper dungeon level than the one before it.

An homage to a bygone era of computer gaming, Akimbo: Kung Fu Hero is a 2D side-scrolling platform game. Akimbo takes on enemies such as skeletal warriors, rabid rhinos, giant clams, goggle-eyed spiders, and man-eating mosquitoes as he explores a brightly colored, hand-painted 2D world. Your ultimate goal is to free the residents of Turtle Island from Fang, a fire-breathing dragon who has placed the tropical paradise under an evil spell. Akimbo: Kung-Fu Hero is a true throwback to the PC and console games of the eighties. The gameplay is exactly what one would expect of a kung fu platform game: running, jumping, kicking and punching. The music is upbeat and simplistic; the sound effects are exaggerated. True to the platform genre, there are a great many levels to play through on your quest to defeat Fang.

The story takes place in a time when demons are terrorizing the world. Three warriors come together and form a Blood Trinity, vowing to fight demons until the world is safe again. One warrior, Elim, is a noble Korean swordsman. The second, Kusa, is a Japanese sorcerer. The third is a woman, Raening, a martial arts expert skilled in archery. Elim becomes engaged to Shining a beautiful girl who he has to rescue when she is captured by demons. He cannot live with her until the world is free of demons. Kusa carries a box on his back containing the bones and restless spirit of his father. He is sworn to avenge his death and find a way to let his father rest in peace. Raening has to prove that a woman and a princess can be as good a warrior as any man. The warriors travel from village to village helping those beleaguered by demons and fulfilling tasks to help the villagers. As a result of their labors they accumulate money, weapons, and powerful spells. They will need all their skill and experience as they learn the story of the Blood Sword and vow to find it and use it to kill Satan. Sometimes the people you meet and the relationships you forge with them are what will stand you in good stead in the future. Be careful who you are rude to or discard as uninteresting. Appearances can be deceptive and not everyone who offers to help you can be trusted. Again, it is up to you to judge. In the underworld you must come to understand the politics of who is fighting against who and decide which side to join. There are the ex-lieutenants of Satan struggling for independence from Satan while fighting each other, there are the half-breeds part demon part human, and there are the humans some of whom have thrown their lot in with the devils. It is your task to decide who has the knowledge you seek about the Blood Sword, its powers, and its whereabouts.

In Albion it is the year 2227, and you take the role of Tom Driscoll, space pilot for the powerful DDT Corporation. DDT has sent a factory ship called the Toronto to harvest minerals and resources from Albion, a newly discovered desert world barren of life but rich in resources. Tom is sent to take some atmospheric readings on the planet, but crash lands after an apparently accidental systems failure of his shuttle. Upon reviving from the accident he is shocked to discover Albion is in fact a rich, life-filled world inhabited by many alien life-forms. It then becomes his task to explore the strange new world and locate the Toronto. His quest becomes even more urgent when it becomes apparent that the AI guiding Toronto is determined to destroy this life-filled world in the name of big business. There are actually two modes in the RPG, 2D and 3D. The 2D mode takes place in the overworld and inside buildings, and is a top-down perspective similar to Ultima 7. Navigation is through the mouse which you can use to move around, and click on things to interact with them. There's also a 3D mode for the villages and dungeons. Combat is turned-based and planned on a 2D 6x6 square grid, and the actual animation occurs in 3D.

As a seal marine, you must break into Alcatraz prison and free all the hostages. This is one and two player platform game that change aspect to 1st person view once you're inside some building. With many different weapons such as flamethrowers, machine guns, bombs and other destructive close combat weapon, you will be able to defeat the wild horde of terrorists. If you play with two player option, the screen splits horizontally.

Control the blue stoneworking Pimmons, the militaristic and wild Amazons, or the 'disgusting biotech' insectoid Sajiki as you go for control of the planet Lukkat. Amazons and Aliens is best described as Settlers 3 on psychidelic drugs.

Alien Trilogy is a first-person shooter based on the first three Alien movies. You control Lt. Ripley in three sections, each based on one film: The colony complex on LV426 (from Aliens), the prison planet (from Alien³) and the derelict spaceship (from Alien). Each section consists of about 10 missions. In every mission, certain goals must be accomplished to continue. These include killing a certain number of enemies, finding items or activating switches. Enemies include everything the Alien life cycle provides: facehuggers, chestbursters, warrior aliens, dog aliens (from Alien³) and Alien queens, one of which waits in the final mission of every section. In addition to the Aliens, you also have to fight employees of the Company, who have either been infected by the Aliens and are beyond saving or who actively want to obstruct your mission. Weapons to be used include pistol, shotgun, pulse rifle, flame thrower and smart gun. Ammunition, health upgrades and other useful items are scattered throughout the levels. Hidden areas may be uncovered by using explosives like grenades and seismic charges. An auto mapping system helps in not getting lost, night goggles and shoulder lamps (running on battery power) allow you to see in the dark and the motion tracker tells you where your enemies are - but only if they are moving.

This 3D shooter gives you the opportunity to choose among 3 races in the struggle for your life control. You can pick deadly Aliens, that has very piercing claws and striking tail, beside the double mouths that can pierce the enemy skull. You can also be a Predator, also an anlien race that came here to hunt, and by that he uses chameleon transparent cover, many vision modes, easy to locate anything that breaths or moves, with one gun mounted on his shoulder, and add-on knife-alike pack on his arm fist. He also uses other weapons, and can easily zoom any enemy even to 8x. Last race is Humans, to be specific, a Marine. Without weapons he's fairly weak, but that's why his weapon arsenal is huge, flamethrowers, miniguns, machineguns, bazookas, etc. and beside that he can watch in night-vision mode, or use his flares to enter the dark. However, flares are limited to five at the time. So pick a race and demonstrate your abilities, either as a human, alien or predator. This Gold Edition gives you more than 30 levels, including 5 bonus levels for each race. Team up with gamers to form online squads in this space sim. You're able to play in multiple modes. You can play as a traditional space sim in a squad with other people, and you can also manage the squads resources. You can buy weaponry and resources, and orchestrate any battles in this mode.

Alley Cat is an action game consisting of several mini games cleverly tied together. You're a little black cat who wants to make love to a pretty lady cat that lives in an apartment complex. Play all kinds of cat-themed mini games in order to reach her and score as many points as you can while doing so. You start out in an alley and need to get inside the apartment by climbing on garbage cans and a fence. Next, jump on a clothesline and through several open windows while big dogs try to eat you and people throw garbage at you. Outside of the apartment complex you can score points by eating the mice that run across the clotheslines. Once you've jumped through a window you enter a room where you play a randomly assigned mini game. These mini games include: eating all the fish in a fish bowl, stealing milk from a bunch of bulldogs, pushing a birdcage from a table and eating the bird, catching mice inside a big cheese, pushing vases from a cabinet. To make things harder there's always a broom inside every room that tries to knock you around. You score points by completing the mini games within a certain time (the faster the better). After you've completed a mini game you're back in the alley. Make your way back inside the apartment complex and you get a chance to play the love-cat game: try to reach the lady cat on the top row of hearts while rival male cats and cupid's arrows knock you down. After you've mated, the difficulty gets cranked up a notch

American Conquest is a realtime-strategy game with masses of enemies and allies - you have to conquer (as the game-title suggests) and defend the american continent. The game features the wars and struggles from 1492 to 1813, a multiplayer-mode, up to 16.000 units, 12 nations you can play (from hispanics to Sioux) and a 3D graphics-engine... American Conquest combines realtime-strategie- with complex tactics-features. You have to control huge armies, find the best formation and build up good armies/find the best blend of long- and shortrange units. There are 100 different units and 106 buildings... The game features 8 campaignes with 42 missions like Pizarro's Expedition, the War of Tecumseh, the Seven Years War and the American War of Independence... GSC Gameworld also built in a diplomacy system, and something like a moral-system. Wins and defeats influence your army's strenght... Also, you can play six historical battles in the multiplayer-mode. And nine solo-missions that aren't part of a campaign.

Choose to be male or female, then customize your character's looks by changing hair style and color as well as clothing and skin color. When you are ready with your character, you can choose to practice in Rehearsal, or try out on Endurance, or to try the Competition. In Rehearsal, you can practice singing any unlocked songs. Endurance will take you through the entire song list, one after another, as the difficulty level continues to rise. How far can you go before your performance is too low to continue? In the Competition, you are competing against others as you work to win the competition. Once the list of competitors is narrowed down to the top 10, you will be able to see your opponents and watch replays of their performances. After each performance, the three judges will comment on your performance. To play, you must try to press the given key(s) at the right time. There are five levels you can get at each place you need to press the key(s). If you hit it right on, you get the highest ranking and have a chance to get a style bonus if you can do that 5 times in a row. If you hit it and are off by a little, you will get one of the other rankings, or the lowest ranking if you miss or press the wrong key. Sometimes you will also have to hold a press for a length of time and let up at the right moment. The game offers many songs, but only 2 voices for each song. If you are male, you get the male voice; if you are female, you get the female voice. The lyrics will appear as the song is sung, so if you want to learn the song as well as compete, you can.

Amok is set in a future in which giant corporations have been at war for nearly 50 years, but an unsteady peace is formed. Unsteady enough to be destroyed by a mercenary company aided by a capable pilot in a battle walker. That peace-wrecker is you. The object of the game is basically to blow up things like military bases, power generators, etc. Powerups are scattered throughout the levels and your Starbird has 2 unlimited-firing laser guns in case you run out of missiles and other weapons.

Amulets and Armor is a mission-based role playing game. The game comes with a number of missions of varying difficulty levels that you can take in whatever order you choose, or even do over again. They each have four-five chapters, in which you basically explore a dungeon, kill a lot of enemies, grab some new loot, and find the exit. The game's graphics are dated, but the game is actually in full, textured 3d, and the engine does allow you to go 'up and down', as in over a spot where you were before. Enemies and items in the game are 2d sprites. The company that made the game fell apart shortly after its release and no new missions are avalible for the game.

I am Sly Boots, a private investigator whose office is on an artificial planet called Anachronox, somewhere in the middle of the universe. Currently, an angry client is beating me up... Right, I forgot again about that little debt of mine... No big deal. But my secretary Fatima reminds me I should better get a job. Okay, okay... I'll just walk around, talk to people, and find something. What's that? A mysterious rich man wants me to find some artifact for him? Great! That looks like a simple PI job. What can possibly go wrong? And so, the tale of Anachronox begins. Together with his friends, Sly Boots will discover a great mystery and prevent the destruction of the universe. Set in a futuristic world, the game is a console-style RPG for the PC, that also contains elements of a humorous adventure á la Space Quest. Controlling Sly and six other party members, you'll explore many planets, and fight enemies in Final Fantasy style battles - a mixture of real time and turn-based combat. There are also many mini-games and plenty of side quests scattered around.

Anacreon: Reconstruction 4021 is an early ASCII space strategy game in where you play (obviously) as the supreme leader of a galactic empire struggling for global dominance. It contains the common elements of 4X strategy, including planet management and development, exploration, tech research and war. The game contains several scenarios (although you can design your own with a text editor) that present the general background of the game (number of players, number of turns and difficulty). Each map is randomly generated, and wins the player with the highest score when reaching the turn maximum. Colonies cannot be created. Instead, there are independent planets that must be conquered in order to adding them to your empire. Colony management is almost automatic, as there are no facilities (apart of certain orbital platforms) to build and resources are used and divided by the computer. The different types of ships and troops, also, are automatically built in planets equipped with the necessary tech. Tech is discovered linearly as you progress, but each planet has a tech level (that also advances automatically when in an empire) that determines what can be constructed there. You can, however, establish the general purpose of a colony (agricultural, military outpost, raw material mine…) and transport freely resources and troops between colonies, and you must pay attention to several statistics (efficiency, warehouses, type of planet…). As there is no diplomacy (except a message system for multiplayer), Anacreon plays mainly as a game about war and conquest.
